Considéré comme un pionnier de la scène Métal Noir Québécois, le groupe est reconnu pour son style froid et atmosphérique influencé par la scène scandinave des années 90, tout en y apportant une identité propre et des paroles en français.
Monarque s'est toujours imposé comme un pilier de la scène black metal underground québécoise. Le groupe c'est produit sur scène tant au Québec qu'en Europe ou aux États-Unis, oscillant entre les salles de concerts traditionnelles, les événements clandestins et les festivals d'envergure internationale.
